Applications
Our aircraft and propulsion systems are meticulously designed and manufactured entirely on site at our cutting-edge UK facility. At Rotron, we boast a state-of-the-art CNC manufacturing and aero-propulsion testing centre. We take pride in being the sole UK aircraft manufacturer building our entire aircraft systems in house.
Our VTOL medium payload aircraft and propulsion systems cover a range of both military and commercial applications, including airborne logistics, ISTAR and precision delivery of one-way effectors.
Uncrewed Aviation
The needs of UAS manufacturers and operators are as unique and diverse as the aircraft and missions they fly. Rotron’s aircraft and propulsions system technology meets these challenging requirements by delivering increased range, reliability and efficiency without sacrificing cost or operational footprint. The small form-factor offers greater flexibility in both ease of deployment and airframe design and payload configuration, while reduced component complexity, zero radial vibration, and multi-fuel operation offers a solution for both land based and maritime operations, ensuring multi-mission readiness and capability.
VTOL Specialists
Over the past 10 years, changes in aviation have created a new wave of aeronautical design activity. With an impressive class-leading power-to-weight ratio, low fuel consumption, high durability and excellent operating economics, it’s no surprise that Rotron aero-engines have become the first choice for new and existing VTOL aircraft. Rotron’s ultra-compact size and power-to-weight advantages provide substantial benefit to the VTOL aircraft designer, offering greater configuration flexibility, as well as delivering a step change in overall weight-saving and performance metrics.
Generators & Hybrid Range Extenders
The dramatic increase in the number of hybrid and electric air vehicles has led to the search for the ideal range extender; a power unit which can charge the aircrafts batteries while in flight, increasing aircraft range by up to four times and eliminating the range anxiety which continues to trouble electric aircraft operators. The class-leading, high power-to-weight ratio combined with the compact size and weight advantage of Rotron’s rotary engine technology makes it the perfect on-board power source for the next-generation of high-efficiency hybrid-electric aircraft.
Performance
An optimum balance of speed, power and reliability is the core requirement of any competitive engine. Currently the RT690-XE is powering the Crighton CR700W - a next generation of rotary track bike.
